10 Exciting Summer Activities For Kids

Summer is the perfect time to create beautiful memories with your children. The longer days and warmer weather provide endless opportunities for outdoor adventures and quality time together. If you’re looking for inspiration on how to make this summer unforgettable and create memories for you and your kids, look no further. I’ve compiled a list of ten exciting summer activities that will keep your kids entertained, engaged, and happy all season long.

Go Outside And Explore Nature

Take advantage of the pleasant weather by venturing into nature. Go on a hike, visit a local nature reserve, or organize a scavenger hunt in your backyard. Engage your kids in nature-related activities such as identifying plants and birds, building a birdhouse, or simply getting some outdoor exercise.

Water Fun Days

Beat the heat and head to the nearest pool, water park, or beach. Spend lazy afternoons splashing around, building sandcastles, and playing beach volleyball. If you don’t have access to a swimming pool, set up a DIY water park in your backyard with sprinklers, water guns, and a slip ‘n’ slide. We love backyard water fun. Here are a few items that we love to use during summer.

Picnic In The Park

Pack a delightful picnic basket with your children’s favorite snacks, sandwiches, and fruits, and head to the nearest park. Spread out a cozy blanket, enjoy the fresh air, and indulge in delicious treats. We like to bring a speaker so we can vibe to music while engaging in exciting summer activities like Frisbee, kite-flying, freeze tag, red light green light and good old fashion family relay races.

Arts And Craft Days

Arts and Crafts Days: Unleash your child’s creativity with fun arts and crafts projects. Set up a dedicated art corner at home with supplies like paints, brushes, colored papers, and craft sticks. Encourage them to make personalized greeting cards, friendship bracelets, or paint masterpieces on canvas. You can even join in and make it a collaborative activity.

Summer Reading Club

Encourage a love for reading by starting a summer reading club with your kids. Take regular trips to the local library to choose new books, create a cozy reading nook at home, and dedicate specific reading times each day. If digital reading is more your thing, a great site we like to use is RazKidsPlus.com. My kids use this in school and we continue through the summer because it is such a good resource for all reading levels.

Find A Museum To Visit

Research local attractions that you may not have explored before. Visit museums, art galleries, botanical gardens, or historical landmarks in your area. Many places offer special summer programs and workshops designed for children and a lot of places have free admission days which makes the trip so much better in my opinion.

Outdoor Movie Nights

Transform your backyard into a magical outdoor theater for memorable movie nights. You can get an inflatable movie screen, but if you don’t have that, a white sheet works just fine. Set up a projector and arrange cozy seating with cushions and blankets. Don’t forget the most important part, the popcorn and snacks!

Cooking Adventures

Spend quality time in the kitchen. There are so many different devices that make cooking fun, are kid friendly and easy to operate. You can make cake pops, ice cream, cotton candy, icees and donuts. The kids love these machines and all the food tastes great. The kids feel so accomplished when they see what they made.

Play Games

These can be board games or outside games. Games like Jenga, Sorry, Monopoly, Checkers and Candy Land. Then head outdoors to play tag, hop scotch, run through the water hose, jump on the trampoline and race.

Backyard Camping Adventure

I wasn’t sure about this one at first, but once I tried it, I loved it. Bring the camping experience to your backyard. Set up a tent, roast marshmallows over a fire pit, and tell stories under the stars.

I hope this list of exciting summer activities helps you have a fun filled season that keeps the kids busy and makes you mom of the year!! Enjoy!!
