Keep Looking Forward

My kids and I were in Walmart shopping. As we were going to the next aisle, my six year old daughter, Driauna is walking forward, but looking backward. She is walking right in the direction of an abandoned shopping cart. Driauna is short like me, so her face is the same height as the cart. I see the catastrophe about to happen, so I stick my hand in between the cart and her face. She runs directly into my hand, is startled and says, “Wow, Mommy, that almost took my face off!” I replied, “Yes, and it would have if I were not standing here. Dri, you cannot walk forward and look behind you. You can’t see where you are going and you are bound to crash. Look in front of you, stop looking back.”

As I reflected later, this spoke volumes to me. How do you grow in life and build your future if you keep looking in the past? How do you progress in success, if you keep focusing on your failures? Your outlook has to change. In order for you to move forward, you have to change your view and look at what’s in front of you. The past is the past for a reason; leave it there. Change your direction and walk in confidence. What is ahead of you is better than what is behind you.

If you don’t like the path that you have been given, create your own, but you cannot create a path looking backwards. Don’t risk getting into a crash like Driauna, or missing an opportunity that you could not see because you were looking in the wrong direction. Focus on what’s in front of you, so you can choose the best path to continue to move forward to achieve great success.

Whatever is behind you is where it will stay, because your vision is now focused the other way. Blessings are ahead. Keep moving forward, greatness is bound to happen. πŸ’•
