Mom Life

Try Something New, You Never Know How Well You Will Do.

My four year old daughter, Daniya, has been asking me about ice skating. She saw a little girl ice skating on tv and said, “Mommy, I want to go ice skating….tomorrow!” I laughed as she said, “Mommy, I’m serious! That girl on tv does it and I can too!” Now remind you, Daniya has never stepped foot into an ice arena. I didn’t want to kill her vibe and crush her dreams, so I gathered up the family and we all went ice skating. Daniya put her skates on, gained her balance and took off. First time on ice skates and she was actually pretty good. Daniya had confidence and determination. There was no room for fear, she knew what she wanted and she achieved her goal. We can learn a lot from the little people in our lives. I learned from Daniya to have a clear focus of what you want and then be confident enough to get it done. Daniya did not say she wanted to go ice skating one day…she said tomorrow!!

It’s so easy for us to ponder on things, thoughts and dreams, but the problem is, that’s as far as they go. Those thoughts and dreams never leave the ponder stage. This may be due to fear, uncertainties, possible failures and the thought of taking a risk. The fact is, we miss every shot we don’t take and we loose every race we don’t run.

Daniya’s First Time On Ice Skates

So today do something different. Have the same confident mentality that Daniya has. Claim a goal you are going to accomplish. Turn your determination and drive into full blast, throw the fear and uncertainties out the window and get the job done. Remember, it’s perfectly fine to start out small. Accomplishing smaller goals will give you momentum and motivation to crush the next one. Jump out there and try something new, you never know how good you may do.

Comment down below and let me know some goals you are going to accomplish today! I can’t wait to hear all of your success stories! You will never be successful at anything, if you don’t start something. Remember it’s the sister support that helps us grow stronger. Love ya guys! πŸ’•

What a delightful and inspiring response. You are so correct, as long as we live there will always be something to do, a new experience to partake in, in various areas of life. The key is tapping into those experiences so that we can look back and say, wow, that was a lot of fun and so glad that I did that. Thanks for the inspiration! Love you too! πŸ’•

First and foremost… congrats Donna on starting your blog!! secondly I definitely needed this motivational reminder! And I agree, especially as we get older we second guess ourselves or even allow our fears to take a hold of what we truly want out of life. Niya demonstrating that child like faith has revealed to me how much I need to have a goal and no matter what it may look like believe in myself that I can do it! Beautiful post and I am soooo excited for more.

Hey Shanti Wanti…Thank you so much. It is so true that having that child confidence can take us to the next level. Kids don’t have the fear that we have learned and developed while going through life on the journey to adulthood. So if we can go back to that child mindset, that is full of confidence and ambition and focus in, who knows what we can accomplish at an even faster pace. Niya opened my eyes and made me get up off my butt too! Lol. Bring back that “little girl Shanti” who knows no fear and Go Get It!!! I’m here for support along your journey. Love ya!πŸ’•

Congratulations on your blog. This post has inspired me to take a chance and do more in life so I can reach my goal. Daniya is showing us what faith is all about, She was very determined and wasn’t going to stop until she reached her goal. We can’t have both faith and fear. Fear hold us back from doing the things we so much want to do in life, but know that, God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Beautiful post πŸ’• keep them coming…

Oooh Ilene!!! I love your response. “We cannot have both faith and fear” Girl, they just don’t work together. We have to step out there, unleash our confidence and get to business. We learn that Bible verse 2 Timothy 1:7 which you stated above, but we just sometimes forget what it means. Thanks for reminding all of us. Talk to you soon! πŸ’•
